CURRENT ROLE: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PRISON EDUCATION FUNDING AT SINCLAIR COLLEGE (DAYTON, OH)

Hello, Discord! Thank you for viewing my portfolio! I appreciate the opportunity and your interest. Allow me to share a bit about myself. First, I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA but currently live in Dayton, OH, where I have been for most of my life. I am a huge fan of computers, gaming, web design, and writing (leisurely, I haven’t started writing professionally… yet!)

I consider myself to be a budding professional, as I strive to grow continuously in my career, and I don’t like staying stagnant for too long. In my professional career so far, I have held five supervisory and management positions (across three employers) over five years – typically because I strive to “climb the ladder” when opportunities arise.

Also in my pursuit of constant growth, I have picked up other hobbies such as my freelance web design and digital marketing. Though my portfolio is small, (still growing!) feel free to look at some of my work below.

Again, thank you for the opportunity and consideration.

PROJECTS & ACHIEVEMENTS

NASFAA 2023 Presentation

NASFAA 2023 Presentation

June 30, 2023 | SAN DIEGO, CA

NASFAA is the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, which consists of over 29,000 financial aid professionals from nearly 3,000 colleges and universities.

At this year’s conference, I (alongside three colleagues) presented in front of a large group on the challenges, strengths, and lessons of the program that we launched at Sinclair College. We are one of few colleges/universities in the country to launch a “Second Chance Pell” experimental site, which offers the Federal Pell Grant to incarcerated students. Sinclair College is also one of few colleges operating under Second Chance Pell in such a massive way, working in 17 prisons across Ohio.

Though I was shaking and my voice probably quivering from this being my largest presentation in my career so far, this was a phenomenal opportunity for me to strengthen my public speaking skills as well as networking, working with executive leadership, and representing my organization nationally.

NASFAA 2023 Webinar

NASFAA 2023 Webinar

OCTOBER 12, 2023 | VIRTUAL, NATIONALLY

Another excellent opportunity that arose this year is the chance to speak at a webinar hosted by NASFAA.

It is an honor to be asked to speak at a webinar hosted by such a large organization, with an audience of potentially several hundred college/university presidents, vice presidents, and directors.

In this webinar, I will be presenting alongside one of my colleagues (Veronica Davidson, Associate Director) and Felipe Leal who is the Director of Financial Aid at Lee College in Texas. We will be sharing tips and facilitating discussions on theĀ  challenges of working with incarcerated students to complete the paper FAFSA form.

Five Stones Therapy

Five Stones Therapy

ONGOING | WEB DESIGN, DIGITAL MARKETING

Working with computers, digital design, web development, and gaming have always been interests of mine, quite literally since I was old enough to climb into a computer chair. That said, I have been sharpening my tools as a web designer using content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Wix, Squarespace. I’ve also used my free time over the past several years to equip myself with knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript (though I’m still struggling to learn JS).

Five Stones Therapy is my mother’s private therapy practice based in Ohio. What better chance for me to practice one of my passions than to design my own mother’s website? I worked with her as if she was a client instead of a family member (though she did get a 100% off coupon!) to design the website of her dreams. We collaborated to create a brand, digital marketing strategy, and ultimately, her beautiful website. This is work that I am truly proud of, and nearly every new client she sees mentions that her website was one of their reasons for choosing her practice over others.

ONGOING | WEB DESIGN, DIGITAL MARKETING

Another web design project of mine was for a colleague of my mother’s.

Anchored in Hope Counseling Services is another private practice therapy office. I worked with Kylee, the therapist, to create a simple website without too many “bells and whistles.”

This was another great chance for me to practice project management and working with clients to deliver a product, completely customized to their liking.
